German for King of Biscuits, but this is about Derek and as he is American, they call bicuits, cookies. His last name is Koenig, so I thought of the title. He is one of my closet friends on dA. He is not a just a friend, he is a friend in a long time, since 2009. I honour him as my closet friend we often nearly see each other online, nearly everyday, is patient about my issues and often agree on most things except he is a PC-Toshiba, I’m a Mac and PC-Acer.

I cannot decide which gift art to pick from him, he did quite alot, it was very kind of him and I’m not saying, he shouldn’t stop.  I think I choose this one, this made me laugh the most. I can imagine the sound effects going on this if this became a video. I imagine the audience cheering, drum roll, swoop sound, licking noises, grunt and squashed French accordion when Pierre and Andre are mad at Yosem.

What I like about his work is, is the poses which I envy and the characters he has produced. I also like the expressions he has added to these characters, like if being cocky, he or she shows it or if pissed off, the red gradient shows with grinding teeth. I also like how the eyes, particular one character, usually a cartoon has single eyelids, a bit like most Asians have as other races, have double eyelids, one his characters nearly has the double eyelids.

There is couple of flaws if you don’t mind me saying but, I don’t like the basic web colours being added as it kind of ruins the other colours. Other is the lines but it might be due to the tablet, I have that with mine, it gets more annoying when I use it George (my laptop) and doesn’t always respond to it. This is why I use Illustrator. 

The Review on Unit 2- Title Sequences- My choice was Bean. The elemenys were to add the 3D effect and use kinectic typography with the set time limit.

What I think to this was, I wasn’t too keen on it, my tutor loved typography but I despised it like everyone else, so getting her wishes were harder. I also hated the fact, there was a time limit, the maximum was 1.00 but others were 30 or 45 secs.

The only thing I liked was the making Mr.Bean into typography but had his hair line, nose, ears and feet. It didn’t help when I was off with flu and had other deadlines, for Contexual Studies. 

Research wasn’t too bad even though Bean was highly underrated, in order to get the film, I downloaded from a website (yes, I know it was a wrong, but the shops don’t sell it and I deleted it, as it was lagging George too much). I kept getting these issues it was crashing it alot. 

As for animation. It was too bad except the 3D Camera tool was so tricky when I was doing 3D Lina http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_qKZf6Cogk . I could really fit 3D elements except the doors. 

Presentation boards weren’t too bad at least. I was rather late though and had a complaint, Stio wanted me to add a cover for the DVD but didn’t really have time. But whole presentation, wasn’t fully what is seemed, it lacked enthusiasm but not many like typography unlike the Youbrief, which had more freedom. It never helped it was a full Monday (as not many people like Mondays) and was back from semester break.

Conclusion is, I didn’t fully enjoy this and my mark were lower because of it. If I had to do this again, I’ll find a film that I can add ‘words’ into, maybe Electric Dreams as it has plenty of typography.  

I think I’m getting an obsession about this film called ‘Electric Dreams’. An 80’s film about a boy meets girl but the boy gets a home computer and, one day, it comes alive and wants the girl. I am into the song right now, it reminds me of my characters, especially Mush and his computer love. I’m working on a drawing about Mush in his mid teens on his first computer at school to the current day Mush and his laptop. Or yet, how I feel about my computers.

Now to review it.

I had watched and it was enjoyable, I like the music used in this film, the characters and the plot. My favourite character has to be Edgar, he was portrayed as an antagonist but I think he was rather misunderstood really, he had trouble understanding about what love is and why can’t Madeline be the girlfriend, instead of Miles and being a computer, it must of feel isolated, especially being only one. 

SPOILER ALERT

I was so devastated Edgar killed himself because he understood, he’ll never have love and was so hurt. He decided to let Miles have Madeline as he got to know the morals of love.  

I rate this as 4/5 as I was sad Edgar got killed off. 

I recommend you should watch this, especially if you gave your computer a name or even traits like both of mine, even though, it is underrated and DVDs are rare. 

As the humans to turn up and my laptop (George) to transfer data from my USB sticks, as I need to sort them into subjects and make room, but it (he) is taking long, this is why I use my Mac at home!

I thought I may blog what are we are doing.

This week, Monday, Rehan and I, have found a new companion, but he ain’t the tin dog. So we had to do more splitting on what task, one of us is capable of doing. We got the camera and tri-pod, from the technican and decided to expiriment, which we are glad as the settings were very bright. Rehan took it home with him and experimented with it.

On Tuesday, Rehan, Tom and I, and the Support Worker, came to Manchester. We went everywhere with the camera, which is (in mixed order) Canal Street, China Town, Aflecks, near Mosi, the canals, Arndale Car Park etc. I mostly took the photos, while trying to add Rule of Thirds and used angles to make the image look more ‘interesting’. While on Arndale Car Park, we took turn to use video mode. Tom and I decided to go to Manchester on Thursday to get more photos.

Wednesday, Tom and I confirmed, Rehan sent an email about the videos, which I need to get round to watching.

Thursday, Tom and I meet in Manchester, we went to China Town, again, but take photos of the rear end of buildings. Then walked all the way to ITV Studios, in the canal, we wanted footage of the hotel but was blocked off, got canal photos then we head to Mosi and got inside the engine room. I saw plenty of trams at Deansgate/Castlefield station, I took photos, with use of sports mode, it got me an idea.

Friday, Rehan and I are currently waiting for Tom, who said he’ll be coming at lunch time. Rehan just did the Minute Sheets and said to work in his sketchbook. I’m nearly finished with the blog, just finished transferring the data to three of my USB sticks, one is Animation which in the 32 GB Duracell brand as it takes alot of files, one is for Contexual to store Contexual stuff on the brand I don’t know about but is a 4GB, the other is for the other stuff, all year round, mainly when designing DVD interfaces. When Tom turns up, we’ll do a mind map on what task we are capable of doing.

Get Well Soon for my Mum by ~LaptopGeek

Sorry, no WIPs this time. 

This is for my mum who is unwell as been hospitalized for three days, last week. I want to share this on Tumblr as my Tumble Weedlings, most of them are actual students from the same uni and a few are from deviantART.

On this day of her surgery, the month before, Edd Gould passed away. I thank you in advanced in liking this, even reblogging, for those on dA, I got alot of favourites and even new watchers.

I also plan to watch Coraline as one of the animators worked in Manchester.

On the other hand I’m researching more animation studios set in Manchester using Google Map (from what Stio provided), so far I found alot and based in central Manchester. I need to decide to research soon on what I need to find but there is so many!! I plan to write the websites that have more animations, not just the CGI kind and have information of why and how.

Future Shorts http://www.futureshorts.com/ -  I clicked on ‘Watch Shorts’, it got me to its Youtube page. I put in ‘Manchester’ on the channel search bar, I found two results.

I’ll do tiny reviews on these.

In Passing, http://youtu.be/6An8U-7T3bM - It is about a partially-blind woman who expirences being around Manchester, day and night. This film is a mixture of actually film but blurred out and animation such as cell lining, moving graphs and kinetic typography. The creator of this film, is The Light Surgeons. I think I should research this as it has animation and Manchester.

Dog Years, Chapter 1 , http://youtu.be/QZR17rlXNWw - It is about a man who talks in a dog’s point of view. It has no animation whatsoever and I don’t think it relates to Manchester, they only got awards that are from Manchester. So I don’t think this video will be researched.
